About C/SI was reminded of my original mission statement when I was reading an article of an old issue of Broken Pencil, written by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha "Brown Star Kids: Zinemakers of colour Shake Things Up." That's what it was all about. And every time I get discouraged by lack of chicano zinesters or zines by people of color, or support or what have you- I tell myself-if I leave, then what? Yes, life gets in the way -(but it makes for interesting zine material!)-kids are had, rent must be paid, dreams are put on shelves-but we still fight right? A pen, a can of spray paint, words, we fight to connect. The only distro of it's kind dedicated to having people of color's voices heard and projects seen. We are trans friendly, political, activist, mamas, theorists, cooks, poor, students, writers...striving to find the voices of writers that get lost on the white page." C/S is run by Noemi, who writes Hermana, Resist zine, among other zines and projects. Her plate is always full. She finds it very strange to speak of herself in the third person. Here is a sleek transition. I write short stories & political poetry, honest, biographical and semi-autobiographical pieces. I consider myself is a revolutionary mujer. I'm a writer/poet and person extraordinaire and a single mami. I have other 24 hour/ full time duties, as in supermom and superhero by night, working 2 jobs by the seat of my skirt. Orders go out typically twice a week. Email me if you have any concerns. I visit Dynamic Drive. The logo fonts are Radium J and Violation. I used an old version of PSP. And notepad as well as plenty of looking at other sources.
